I found this out meeting with City of Boulder staff regarding the upgrading of 28th and Colorado, the first traffic light when taking US36 into Boulder and Boulder's second busiest intersection (and most complicated with a frontage road alongside; 28th and Arapahoe is the busiest).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14162253.post-12719570236585133582007-06-18T15:22:00.000-06:002007-06-18T15:22:00.000-06:00As I posted last week, an increase from 3 to 4 sec...As I posted last week, an increase from 3 to 4 seconds for the yellow decreased camera violations 72% in Mesa, Arizona.NewMexiKenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00242650540974120056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14162253.post-74267164598518684012007-06-18T14:46:00.000-06:002007-06-18T14:46:00.000-06:00Unlikely. I suspect that optimal yellow light duration is really a function of typical speed, easy stopping distance from light when the yellow light is discerned, and typical reaction time. If the duration is too short, people go through because they can't safely comply. Too long might chang prevailing behavior, but a bit longer probably wouldn't.Andrew Oh-Willekehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02537151821869153861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14162253.post-9957330445948098272007-06-18T14:35:00.000-06:002007-06-18T14:35:00.000-06:00And once everyone becomes habituated to the longer...And once everyone becomes habituated to the longer yellow lights...? Wouldn't this be akin to changing law because of changed prevailing behavior?Hive Foundationhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16468394230251420707noreply@blogger.com
