Patricia Miller, a Republican State Senator and committee chair in Indiana is
preparing legislation that would require anyone who want to get pregnant through fertility treatments to obtain permission from a court and limit that to married people. She is also the executive director of an anti-gay group within the United Methodist Church. "Unauthorized reproduction" would become a crime. Single people, gays and unmarried couples could not use "artificial reproduction" and even married people would have to complete an application that would address such things as their values and hobbies.
Miller has backed down on the proposal.
