The intelligent design trial in federal court in Dover, Pennsylvania concluded trial presentations on Friday. The trial was to a judge, John E. Jones III, rather than to a jury, so all that remains is for the judge to issue a ruling, expected by early January.
Notably, the forces of ignorance were represented by "Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Thomas More Law Center, which says that its mission is to defend the religious freedom of Christians." Who would have thought that the financial backing for ignoring science would come predominantly from Domino's Pizza (not that this is the only pizza chain with management that sponsors arch-conservative causes)? Also, it is ironic that a Catholic organization would go to the mat for a Christian movement, fundamentalist Christianity, the driving force behind Intelligent Design, that disagrees with the Catholic Church on evolution and believes that the Catholic Church is a corrupted instrument of Satan.
Kansas also has a state school board led by an idiot who thinks that the bible has better science than scientists.
ReplyDeleteYou would think that an economy based on the biological sciences would have voters that aren't anti-science, but you'd be wrong.
Yes, who would think that the financial backing for ignoring science would come predominantly from a Pizza company.
