One commentator at a source post suggests:
Ideally this should be installed in storm sewers and concrete lined basins of urbanized areas first because in that capacity the device can also be made to serve as flood flow detention device, without any worries about downstream erosion or bank collapse.
I've heard of a water way called "Cherry Creek" for which this could be just the ticket, and it is hard to imagine a time when Xcel Energy has been under greater pressure to develop renewable energy sources. Given Coyote Gulch's inside connections to Denver Water, I imagine that they'll be aware of this development sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteVolta thought that electricity was produced by contact between the two metals rather than as a result of chemical reaction. His invention would remove the study of electricity from the realm of curiosity and propel it directly into scientific laboratories. In France, André-Marie Ampère, professor of chemistry and physics, also drew on work by another researcher, Christian Oersted. In1820, this Danish physicist discovered that an electric current produced a magnetic field. A few weeks after the announcement of Oersted's results, Ampère succeeded in making a coil (solenoid) to create a magnetic field.
