Sometime in the last week or so I saw an astounding factoid that I failed to blog. Colorado ranks 50th in per student higher education funding. The state constitution handcuffs efforts to do much about this situation.
Not surprisingly, given the poor funding, Colorado high school students have below average college attendance rates. The high level of education among Colorado adults is mostly due to migration into the state by educated people from elsewhere.
Amendment 23 has kept K-12 education spending somewhat more vital, but Colorado is still near the bottom of heap on that measure as well, despite its affluence.

Yet Colordo is fifth in per-capita college degrees. It's known as the Colorado Paradox. So the phrase "Colorado hates education" isn't quite right. The phrase "Colorado hates public education" is more accurate.
