Colorado Economy Almost Out Of Recession

The coincident index of the Federal Reserve system's economists tells you if you are in a recession or not right now. Many states remain in dire straights. Colorado is just shy of being out of the recession.

The Federal Reserve is entrusted with maintaining a steady economy. That's like asking students to grade their own final exams.

The Federal Reserve has lots of jobs.

The coincident index is something that Fed economists maintain, but the measure has been the same for decades and the data is collected outside the agency. They just put the numbers into a spreadsheet that varies very little. Any attempt to cheat would be caught very quickly by Wall Street analysts.
