Allison Eid has been appointed to the Colorado Supreme Court, to replace retiring Justice Rebecca Kourlis . . . . Eid is Colorado's solicitor general, appointed to the position in February 2005 by Attorney General John Suthers. Eid clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and U.S. Circuit Court Judge Jerry Smith. She was a one-time speechwriter and special assistant to then-U.S. Secretary of Education William Bennett. She is a tenured professor at the University of Colorado.
From the Denver Post.
Given her conservative credentials, I imagine that the choice was an easy one for Governor Owens. But, I would happily trade Eid for either Roberts or Alito on the U.S. Supreme Court.
