Hick Out

The Rocky Mountain News has announced that John Hickenlooper, Mayor of Denver, will not be running for Governor. This contradicts strong rumors reported Saturday at Colorado Pols.

With the elephant now out of the living room, any other contenders for the Gubinatorial race on the Democratic side, now the sole province of former Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter, will have to step up to the plate. Alice Madden and Gary Lindstrom have both talked about filling the pro-choice void in the Democratic Party Governor's race, but both are far behind Ritter is rounding up support, and a recent speech from Ken Salazar urging Democrats to clear the field for one candidate also suggests that he himself isn't running (given Ritter's determination not to leave the race voluntarily).
