We Need A Senate That Never Sleeps

Bush can and will try to make controversial recess appointments, unless that is, the Senate chooses not to go into recess ever for the next two years. It is an idea so crazy that it just might work.

Just hold 5-minute pro forma sessions every couple of days. All you need is one Senator to be in the chair. Mikulski and Cardin (MD) and Webb (VA) could take turns coming into town and gaveling the empty Senate chamber to order.

Anything that stops Bush's abandonment of good faith in carrying out his constitutional duties is worth doing.
