Fines in Texas
The top criminal court in Texas has, for once, giving criminal defendants a major break. The court ruled that multiple fines for violating separate laws in the same course of conduct are, like multiple prison terms for the same course of conduct concurrent. Thus, paying the highest fine arising from a course of conduct will satisfy the obligation to pay all fines for that course of conduct, no matter how many counts are charged.
