Air Force Making Decision On Next Bomber

It will be about twelve years, at least, before the Air Force puts its next generation bomber under current plans. But, pivotal decisions about what that program will involve will be made this budget cycle. This is significant because there is no consensus on what sort of program is needed or desirable. This ranges from cheap and dirty "transport bombers" (the B-747 concept) in tradition of the B-52, to a next generation long range stealth bomber in the tradition of the B-1 and B-2, or more revolutionary ideas like an unmanned bomber or manned-UAV hybrid.
