Spent Nuclear Fuel
A diarist at Daily Kos described issues related to spent nuclear fuel. The past 50 years of more than one hundred nuclear power plants in the United States have produced 77,000 kilograms of it, about one Wal-Mart full, and far less than the amount of waste produced by a single coal fired power plant in a single year. Much of it could be reprocessed and used to produce more energy.
