Math Prof Murdered in Nebraska

Steven Haataja was murdered this March in Chadron, Nebraska. According to CNN on May 8, 2007, he was murdered seven months after moving to the town and he:

was found burned to death in fire-scarred hills just south of the small school where he taught. . . . Haataja was burned and bound, though it's not clear how. He died of smoke and soot inhalation, along with "thermal injuries," authorities said last month.

Hat Tip to Diary of a Black Mathematician.

The motive is unclear.
