I am indebted to blogspot because it gives me a free resource, an internet blog of my own, that I enjoy a great deal. But, from time to time I do a random blog tour for a dozen or two blogs at the site to see what else it out there, and it is amazing how many are blog spam, the same sort of stuff you'd expect to see in a spam e-mail (OK, a few are slightly more sophisticated commercial come ons), with little or no redeeming value. I'd guess that a third to two-thirds of blogspot blogs are blog spam.
I suppose it is an inherent flaw of any free medium, but one wonders if there couldn't be a better way to thin it out.
